These are two of the photos taken last night, May 22, 2007, at the Philippine Consulate General after the regular meeting of the Kalayaan of Southern California, Inc. (KOSCI). The KOSCI is facing quite a challenge in holding the events scheduled for June 8-10, 2007, at the Long Beach Convention Center. Twelve of the KOSCI Board of Directors resigned for various reasons. The remaining 10 directors and other volunteers and Filipino diplomats hope that all is well that ends well. (A full report of a scoop will be posted later at this web site.)

The first photo shows nine of the 10 remaining directors of the KOSCI. Seated (from left) Thelma Calabio, Lydia Soriano (KOSCI president and chair), Consul General Mary Jo Bernardo-Aragon (Kalayaan 2007 honorary chairperson), Josie de Jesus and Mylah de Leon. Standing (from left) Leo Maranan, Benjie Bautista, Noel Omega (KOSCI vice president and vice chair), Bobby Reyes (Kalayaan 2006 chair), Henry Bio and Dan Fajardo (the new KOSCI treasurer).

The second photo shows the
KOSCI directors and Consul General Aragon with members of the KOSCI working committees and volunteers. Many of the KOSCI directors who resigned promised to continue working as event volunteers. Proving true to their words are former KOSCI directors Johnny Chua (extreme left on the second row) and Zeny
Sabocor (to the left of Bobby Reyes).
