At least three Filipino journalists agree that the Philippine Independence Day Council’s (PIDC) waiver requirement was a kind of censorship that infringes on press freedom. A practising lawyer in Toronto calls it "threat lamok". And everyone seems to agree it's a "stupid" imposition by people who don't know what they're doing.

The full story of the PIDC’s waiver requirement, including interviews with respected journalists, is available at Digital Journal, at this link:

Toronto's PIDC Should Have Emulated P. T. Barnum

The Philippine Independence Day Council of Toronto, Canada, should have just emulated P. T. Barnum of the circus fame. Mr. Barnum told the press: "You may write anything about me for as long as you spell my name right."

The PIDC doesn't realize that any publicity is always good.
