T une or watch KK! Discuss “The Challenge of Environmental Ethics” on Wed., Dec. 2, @ 1830H (Manila time) at DZRH-AM radio (666 in Metro Manila, other kHz nationwide), TV (Ch. 9 in Metro Manila, other cable TV channels nationwide), and Internet http://dzrh.prepys.com or (http://dzrh.tripod.com How should we use our water, minerals, and other environmental resources? Should we cut trees so we may build houses? Should we continue to mine our minerals in order to advance our economic development? Should we use malunggay or corn to run our vehicles? Who should care about the environment? What time frame and area should we consider in making decisions on environmental issues? How should we conduct our decision making on such issues? What is right or wrong in environment decisions? Environmentalists say that we need a change of values toward the environment. After typhoon Ondoy, the number of people calling for such change—from leaders to ordinary citizens—seems to have significantly increased. Those questions and call for change of values are covered by Environmental Ethics, the “discipline in philosophy that studies the moral relationship of human beings to, and also the value and moral status of, the environment and its nonhuman contents.” On Tune or watch KK! through DZRH-AM radio (666 in Metro Manila, other kHz nationwide), TV (Ch. 9 in Metro Manila, other cable TV channels nationwide), and Internet http://dzrh.prepys.com or (http://dzrh.tripod.com.
