Dear Friends and Colleagues:

I am an Asian American appealing to you for support in raising legal funds, so I can have the opportunity to serve you and the community in fighting to eliminate discrimination in Georgia and the nation. Recently, I filed a racial discrimination case against Georgia State University, University System of Georgia and two senior faculty. My work was reviewed by external faculty as groundbreaking and yet a senior faculty after misrepresenting my application has written a negative evaluation and stated that the "die is cast here". Another faculty stated to the face of an Asian eminent scholar that, "there are too many Chinese in the department" still after the rejection of my promotion and tenure application. You can find more detail information on my website at www.emelita-breyer.com.

Discrimination of Asian Americans is very common in our current society. It comes in many forms and magnitude from the bamboo ceiling to subtle discrimination. For people who have been discriminated but didn't have the chance to set matters right, I offer to fight for you. While for those people who feel that their cause is as great as mine, I offer that we fight together in this cause. This case impacts everyone in Georgia and the nation, and therefore will require the support from everyone. Discrimination if left uncorrected will propagate like cancer in the society and at end the future generation pays for our lack of action now. As Edmund Burke said "All it takes for evil to triumph in the world is for good men to do nothing". I firmly believe that Asian Americans have been the invisible minority for a long time, and it is time that we should work together to fight for visibility and equality. I am currently fighting for visibility and equality for Asian Americans in all aspects of the society and in our path as a nation to establish equality for all Americans.

I am currently in the process of raising $20,000 for legal fees in order for this case to move forward so that justice will be served. My case has strong evidence in writing indicating discriminatory actions. This case could be a precedent that will lift the Asian Americans to the level that they deserve in this society. In similar manner, lack of actions and support from the community will become a bad precedent, that this situation will never be addressed due to the lack of support and the difficulty that someone had to endure to win this type of case. I am hoping for your support and would appreciate if you can help in whatever way you can to contribute for this cause by sending your donation/gift to:
